a non-alcoholic low calorie aperitif

5 out of 5 stars. I Love This Stuff - Lindsay N - Bittersweet Customer

The Dhōs Bittersweet reflects the traditional flavors of bitter rhubarb, brulée of oranges, cinchona, gentian root, and bitter herbs. Exotic and floral with layers of spice and fruits of baked oranges, watermelon, dried strawberries, kumquat, and ripe yellow cherries that all fill the glass with wild complexity. The spice notes are a combination of fresh vanilla bean, bitter roots, dried and fresh green herbs, and crushed field flowers. The texture is smooth and silky with a balanced richness that leads to the spiced finish featuring flavors of rhubarb, cinchona, vanilla, herb, and burnt citrus oil.

Dhōs Bittersweet is sugar free and only 5 calories!  Craft the perfect 5 calorie 'Bittersweet Spritz'! Just mix with soda water, pour over crushed ice & enjoy.

Our "Go To" Drink

This is our "cocktail" favorite now. Yes, we have wine or other cocktail with alcohol, if we want. We have tried other substitute liquors. But we like this product the best. We offer Dhos along with other drinks to guests. At brunch one morning I ordered a Dhos drink at a restaurant. I was surprised at how good it looked for a non alcohol cocktail. The taste was deliciously subtle and, well, bittersweet. Having purchased several bottles, I have followed their recipes and they are all just as good as the first: Seltzer, dash of lemon and Dhos. We also add some of our own touches. Here's hoping more restaurants add Dhos to their cocktail menus. For now it's often our first "drink of the day" at home. Nothing beats it for either taste or weight watching.

Surprise Option

A lovely and unexpected drink, we ordered Dhos at a restaurant. Not preferring sweeter drinks, this was perfect. We tried another recipe with a small amount of honey and that was great also. Now we have a bottle of Dhos, ready for times we just do not feel like drinking liquor.

Erithritol

I love non alcoholic, bitter, Amari-like spirits. This could be really good, but the erithritol ruins it. It leaves a flat and off aftertaste. This is like the Quest protein bar of n/an aperitifs; almost good. I wouldn’t have bought it, had I read the label ahead of time.

WARNING: Not safe for everyone

My wife recently suffered a series of almost fatal cardiac events. As a result she has cut her alcohol consumption way back and thought this would be a nice alternative. Unfortunately, she has been specifically told to avoid erithritol, a sweetener, because it has been found to pose an increased risk of blood clotting and heart attack or stroke. We didn’t find out this contains erithritol until we got the bottle because their website does not provide an ingredient list. Don’t assume that anything is safe just because it is natural, unless you believe arsenic is safe.”Natural is safe” is a marketing claim, not a scientific one.
